In 2023, the ceramic artist Elizabeth McGiff received a grant from Arts Mid-Hudson to teach ceramics to adults from the Anderson Center for Autism. Collected in this exhibit are various works the class produced. Students were especially drawn to making animals as well as the sensory pleasure of the feeling of clay in their hands. McGiff loved the way that people who could not necessarily express themselves through language could express themselves through clay and color. With the help of some wonderful Anderson LLL assistants for each student the work seen here is truly collaborative and embodies hours of joyful Clay Play!
Join the Hyde Park Library for a meet the artist event with Elizabeth McGiff, the Salt Point Potter, and the Anderson Center for Autism. The display will be featured in the gallery from November to December.
